Lesson 2 - History of Law and Democracy

This lesson gives the students an overview of where law and democracy originally came from. The lesson is introduced with a Fun activity Cheyene camp fire role play (role play is in this lessons workbook), this demonstrates to students that laws exist in every society.
Students are given a power point on the history of law and where they come from (Greece, Rome, Medieval England and in particular the Magna Carta). Students write down the notes that are underlined. Please note that all pages that require writing are indicated by a pen on the slide.
Students view a documentary on Democracy in Greece, and are given an information sheet on where the laws come from.
They also view a short you tube clip on the Magna Carta.
After taking notes on the Magna Carta students complete a comprehension worksheet on the topic.
Using the powerpoint overview on law and democracy students create a flow chart on the same.
All films are embedded in the power point.
